Ahok: Jakarta Fair Senayan Merely Takes Benefit

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama revealed that the Jakarta Fair (PRJ) organizer in Senayan, Central Jakarta, only seeking for benefit from the event. They asks for money by Rp Rp 2-50 million to each participant.

Ahok stated it is very detrimental to the event participants, because the organizer does not provide electricity for trade. “ This is very detrimental to participants approximately Rp 2 million per participant ,” he said, City Hall, Monday (6/1).

Even, he continued, the organizer also takes benefit from profiteering case of Jakarta Provincial Government's logo to attract more participant. “Thus, they are so tricky. Besides taking benefit, they also not provide electricity, this is very insolent,” he asserted.

He admitted in his beginning tenure, he had interested with the organizer’s offer. At that moment, the event was held in Monas but it had to be stopped due to chaotic.

He prefers to cooperate with the Jakarta Fair organizer rather than other vendors. This is because, they were willing to provide a 1-hectare wide empty land for small and medium-sized businesses (UKM). “That's why, the event is focused on Jakarta Fair JI-Expo to give more space for the UKM. I think this is very professional,” he expressed.

Previously, Jakarta Fair Project Manager, Indra Maulana justified that the UKM should pay for Rp 2 million for 7days as cost rental, ranging from land, tent, and electricity. Yet it is only for vendors who rent small-sized tent about 3x3 square meters, should be paid by Rp 20 million for 7 days and Rp 50 million for another tent in the size 5x5 square meters for 7 days.

Such event stars to be held on May 30-June 5, 2015. It is free of charge. There will be three main stages and 50 popular artists and bands, namely Zaskia Gotik, wali, Siti Badriah, Kerispatih, The Virgin, etc.
